Dancing in woodlands and the edges of bùrns (rivers) are merry folds of dock leaves swaying in the breeze of our little Angus microclimate. They are a plant cherished by many Scots as they are a sworn antidote to a painful nettle sting. From my own childhood I remember frantically trying to find one of these leaves to alleviate the stings gotten whilst running wild outside. Once carefully snipped at the stems, I sorted each dock leaf in my home studio for the most beautiful patterns on the large leaves for spots of amber, crimson and browns. Once pressed, I preserved these enchanting jewel tones into tiny 5mm sterling silver stud posts - perfect for carrying a discreet little piece of Scottish nature with you on your travels.
